have my sympathies. You are doubtless aware that additional taxes are being
levied against many clans in order to continue funding the war. You may
feel that such a burden levied against you is too much, given your present
circumstances, but I wanted to inform you personally that I regard this
instance as an opportunity to safeguard your clan's koku against potential
destruction by your enemies. Rest assured that you will receive a
proportionately larger amount of Imperial funds to compensate for the
additional amount you submit. It is merely a matter of safekeeping.
