Quite aware of that.  If AEG has announced it, though, then that means somewhere in the world it's being playtested right now.  Our card ideas will be having absolutely no influence on what is going to be printed (unless you actually are a playtester and can conveniently convince AEG that your ideas make a better choice than those in testing)

/am not a playtester, don't ask.

And in the future, in another arc or set, this idea might not be useable now. It is generally not a good idea, no matter how safe you think it is (excluding severely over/underpowered ones like 99PS/7G/39H).

Was ist confirmed that EaW would contain Dragon, Scorpion and Unicorn by AEG?

If not, then we might be shooting ourselves in the foot...

I was under the impression playtesting was done much further in advance...

Alright, to kick off the inevitable predictions:

A non-unique Tamori that'll be controvercial at first, but will be included in most decks that it would be even vaguely handy, because of the universal usefulness of its action.

A monk or two that utterly polarises opinion, regarded by some as a coaster, and others as auto-include.

75% a kensai that'd be great with a bunch more kensai support, but doesn't quite make the cut because the whole theme is still lacking.  25% an equal to (or superior of) ishino.  Desperately  hoping for the latter.  DT, please make Kensai better or drop them.  The former is a long time coming, delaying the latter is just wasting rares each set.

Magistrate and/or dueslist, though not on the same personality.  Given that we just got Haru, money's on the magistrate.

As for uniques... the weight of numbers would suggest a Kensai, as would the suggestions we will get a SH.  Given we've only got one in-clan, then maybe even a "pure" kensai on top of a dual-trait Kensai/Monk, Kensai/shugenja, or even a Kensai/Magistrate.  Heck, even a Kensai/Duelist is possible, though bloody unlikely (imho).

Jaded though it may seem, I'm sick of Kensai being half-hearted.  We've got powerful and competitive decks aplenty at the moment, and I'm not advocating another.  Just enough to lift Kensai out of the learn-to-play category.

Guys, perhaps we shouldn't be suggesting such specific ideas.

If someone makes up text for a card and posts it on a public site, AEG will never print it.  It's their policy, due to potential legal issues.

Isn't that when we should suggest all sorts of crap-tastic ideas? Cheesy

Yeah, but that's a level of @$$-hattery I am not prone to go to unless provoked hard.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love to pull out horrible card ideas and drop them on here so they are not longer fair game as intellectual property, but it may stop them from even using anything that was even remotely good about it if they think it may be too close to whatever was posted.  Why risk it? Why not just let them have the freedom to try to create and balance? I'm not upset with what we have in CE. I'm very content.  Kensai will be interesting to see fully fleshed out, if a bit late, but I'm riding monks like they are going out of style and loving it.

A couple of points of clarification:

1) Basically nothing you can post as a card idea has any actual legal effect of what AEG can or can't do.  To the extent that any sort of intellectual property right could attach to you coming up with an idea for a card, your idea is entirely derivative of AEG's intellectual property, so they can pretty much do whatever they want with it anyway.  They don't want to use posted card ideas because it's a potential hassle, not becuase they'd ultimately lose a lawsuit.

2) Please don't make me think about about whether a bunch of posts listing bad cards so that AEG "can't" print them is the sort of stupid thing I should moderate.

3) As far as the status of Empire at War, I'm reminded of last year, when IIRC Path of the Destroyer (the 2009 fall set) was already locked as of GenCon (e.g., it was too late to change PotD based on GenCon results).  So if Empire at War is the fall set this year, then playtesting should basically be done at this point.

If I remember correctly, they were actually selling Path of the Destroyer in the AEG booth at GenCon last year before the street date.

Besides which, if they really liked the idea there are plenty of variants on the wording they could use also.

What I'd like to see is a battle reaction that states that if a weapon goes to the graveyard from play, you may choose to instead attach it to a legal unit.  Grin

Which would have been handy last night if it had been on the stronghold instead of in my fate deck where I couldn't use it...  Tongue

Well, I'll give my 2 cents now since we're done speculating. The article linked in the first post of this thread suggested that the new SH are Dragon, Scorpion and Unicorn. Now, I'm inclined to believe that since this news ended up in a magazine article that there is some truth to it and not some sort of rumor. However, I would be remiss if I did not have my doubts as to when it would be out and whether or not those would be the SH released for it. I will direct you back to my original post in this thread as to my hopes for the next set, whatever and whenever that might be.

Cheers.  Grin
